The sun was shining on September 9th, 2013 for the mac-interiors golf event in aid of Barretstown.
Tucked away in a leafy suburb of South Dublin, the Castle Golf Club is a compact course. Celebrating its centenary year now in 2013, the greens and fairways are the perfect combination of mature and manicured and with the Dublin Mountains overlooking proceedings in the distance, the players turned out in their short sleeves in happy anticipation of a good day on the course.
There was great excitement (some would say chaos!) getting 26 teams to fill out their scorecards, collect their bananas and bottles of water, and out on to the tee-boxes for the 2PM shotgun start. But out they did get, and enthusiastically threw themselves into a double competition: a Scramble coupled with a Yellow Ball Challenge. 15 teams out of 26 returned with the yellow ball, with some confessing to having lost theirs at the first hole!
The winning score on the day was a very respectable 54, brought back by the O’Connor Sutton Cronin Team, with Lynch Interact in second place and Aston Carpets in third. After showers and score-counting all teams convened to the clubhouse where a steak dinner was served to a room of more than 110 participants and guests. Needless to say, with the irreverent Oliver Callan presiding the craic was mighty during the prize-giving with Paul McKenna handing out trophies and Apple mobile devices to all who would accept them and Oliver keeping up a steady stream of dry satire all the while. After the prizes followed the raffle and a fantastic final tally of €21,663 was raised for Barretstown.
The team at mac-interiors are delighted with the success of the event – a great day was had by all, with some good sport and fun, and all in aid of a very worthy cause.
Big thanks again to everyone for their enthusiastic commitment of time, money and energy.
