International Women’s Day gives us all the opportunity to pause and examine the opportunities presented to women across all industries and reaffirm our commitment to gender equality. It’s important the construction industry uses this opportunity to take stock and recognise how far we’ve come in addressing some of the inequality, but also how far we still have to go. mac-group Group CEO – Paul McKenna is a strong advocate for gender parity in the construction industry and at mac-group.
The official theme for IWD 2021 is “Choose to Challenge” recognising the need to call out gender bias and inequality. Signified by raising one hand to encourage a commitment to helping forge an inclusive world.
At mac-group, we want our people to have equal opportunities without gender bias. There are many career paths available in construction and a wealth of opportunities for all across the board. We recognise the immense contribution that equality at work brings.
Surely the last 12 months has taught us all that anything is possible. We must now do everything we can to promote the entry of women to our profession, and allow them to thrive.
I #ChooseToChallenge every day, it can be as small as listening, or as big as changing organisational policies. It’s important to look at the big picture, no matter how big or small your role.

mac-group are committed to helping forge an inclusive world and recognising the need to call out gender bias and inequality. Across our offices and sites in the UK and Ireland we #ChooseToChallange !
On International Women’s Day we celebrate the achievement and contributions of women around the world, who have played a role in shaping our history. In a year that has seen women from all walks of life rise up and speak out on issues of equality, it’s also an opportunity to join together to push global attention toward accelerating the gender parity timeline.
At mac-group we recognise and celebrate this important day, we sat down three important women in our company and asked them what IWD means to them and how do they #ChooseToChallenge.
