Tigh Linn in Irish means ‘home with us’, and visiting their rehabilitation centre is a special experience. Tucked away in a remote part of Wicklow, Tiglin offers peace to recover from addiction. The buildings are homely and full of character – converted cut stone barns, beautifully maintained, in a clean rural environment. It’s hard to imagine a better location to clear your body and mind of the difficulties of the past. And that’s what happens here.
Tiglin are dedicated to supporting people affected by addiction. Their services include both a men’s and a women’s rehabilitation centre as well as a ‘No bucks’ mobile cafe which provides food, clothing and a safe environment for homeless people to come and learn about services that could help them.
mac became involved with Tiglin through up-cycling stripped-out materials from our projects. Tiglin worked to convert their buildings into somewhere that residents could be comfortable while also providing working areas for their own administration. mac’s donations so far have helped to create office environments, counselling rooms, family meeting areas, a dentistry and a canteen.
Having gotten to know the charity and seen the dedication of the staff to this cause, our support for the charity has strengthened and we are committing ourselves to donating more than the up-cycled materials – we are also going to donate our time, finances, expertise and manpower. As the residents focus on rebuilding their lives, we will help with construction and fit out. We will be carrying out works to the buildings as well as volunteer days and we will be holding a charity golf day where funds raised will go towards this very special charity.
