‘Oracle is on a journey towards domination of the global Cloud Computing market. Block-B, Eastpoint Business Park is a step on that journey. Combining the very latest technology in Communication, Collaboration & Innovation with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) this cloud sales hub represents the very spirit of Oracle and our commitment to deliver the very best customer and employee experience.’
Alan Lawless, Oracle
The different areas in OracleDirect EMEA Cloud Sales Hub are all designed to optimise space & technology, encourage collaboration and foster innovation. As a result anyone coming for an interview would really want to work there. There is a Social Media Hub, Huddle Rooms and Virtual Labs. There is a pop-up auditorium, CollabZones, and Virtual Meeting Pods. The theme that ties all these spaces together is Communication. But the best part? This project has achieved LEED Gold, and is heading for Platinum. What is LEED? An acronym that stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, it is the premium certification system for sustainable Architecture and the built environment. This certification means that Block B is at the very forefront in energy and resource-efficient building.
But what does LEED mean for building occupants? It means healthier, cleaner air, more daylight, and also greater ability to control one’s own immediate environment at work in relation to light, temperature and fresh air.
For mac-interiors, making all of this happen and bringing the Oracle dreams to reality was a challenge we relished. Procurement was key most of all in the context of a very short pre-construction period and programme. Atrium glazing was stripped out on each floor and new glazing installed to a 20m high roof. Built-in automated blinds in the roof are controlled by the Building Management System. Documentation from subcontractors was carefully collated and submitted to the U.S. Green Building Council in the required formats in the pursuit of LEED Certification.
This project marks a milestone in the changing of attitudes to sustainability of the built environment, as well as signalling a new culture in the way organisations work collaboratively. Oracle wanted a building that would attract and retain talent, foster innovation, and provide an iconic representation of their profile, their people, their brand.
Therefore that’s what they got.
