The view from the upper windows of 2, Grand Canal Plaza is very charming. The canal basin is home to a motley collection of house boats in varying sizes and states of repair and the calm water brings a serenity to the area which makes it a very attractive place to go to work every day.
mac-interiors working with a team of consultants comprising G&T; BKD Architects; Axiseng; AECOM and Maurice Johnson, have just completed a complex fit out on 5 floors (42k sqft) of this Rohan Holdings building. The 5th and 6th floors are currently tenanted by BT, with whom mac-interiors have had an excellent working relationship for many years.
It was very important for us to complete the works in this occupied building with careful sensitivity to the tenants upstairs. And that was no mean feat! The works included structural steel modifications, where the first floor was cut back to create a double-height void. We also had to carry out comprehensive tests and upgrading on all external glazing requiring the use of cranes and hoists. Also installing bike racks outside, and building an entire new shower block (for the cyclists!). CAT A landlord works were carried out on 4 floors which are now ready for new tenants. In addition we upgraded the reception areas, lift lobbies, toilet cores and various public areas to impress those potential tenants!
This is a building to be proud of – both in terms of location and the standard of fit out. Also mac-interiors wish the very best of luck to the new occupiers.
