Project Overview

Zurich Insurance Group Ltd is a Swiss insurance company, headquartered in Zürich, and one of the world’s largest insurers. As of 2021, the group is the world’s 112th largest public company according to Forbes’ Global 2000s list, and in 2011 it ranked 94th in Interbrand’s top 100 brands.

Zurich contracted mac-group for a second time to deliver their new flagship Irish Corporate Headquarters Building. Located in the brand new Grade A Enterprise House building, the project comprised a high end CAT B Fit Out of 73,000ft2 over five floors. This project achieved a LEED Gold rating.

Architectural Scope

Internal partitions & glazed screens, suspended & MF ceilings, Internal doors, tiling, floor coverings, specialist joinery, ironmongery, firestopping and painting and decoration to provide:

Mechanical Scope

• MDF and IDF DX systems and associated pipework
• Ventilation systems and alterations and additions
• LPHW and CHE pipework alterations, additions and supply and installation of new FCUs
• New pipework, connections from the existing LPHW and CHW
• New relocated fan coil units
• Alterations to existing controls
• The connection of water services and waste pipe work to new catering installation and sanitary installation
• Leak detection
• Revisions to the BMS and interface with the existing building management system and the design of graphics, time schedules, alarms
• Extension of the Gas Installation to serve the commercial kitchen
• Commissioning, cleaning, sterilising and setting to run all items of plant and equipment as required
• Acoustic and vibration control related to mechanical services
• General Metalwork (Gantries and access platforms) secondary steelwork, Plant Pro
• Hand held firefighting installation
• Commissioning, balancing, treatment and sterilisation of the mechanical services systems
• Kitchen Hood with Ansul and UV
• Thermal insulation
• Water treatment including flushing and cleaning

Project Challenges

The Zurich Enterprise House project had a very ambitious two week preconstruction period and a 28 week construction programme encompassing phased handovers and client move management. Works were completed in a live environment requiring detailed and regular tenant liaison.
