Architectural Scope:

DocuSign wanted to break down barriers and find new ways of working to empower employees, optimise operations, and facilitate collaboration whilst being future-proofed to adapt to its growing business needs. Catering for alternative ways of working, the design provides different settings for alternate styles and behaviours, from quiet focussed work zones, lounge spaces for informal meetings, as well as active collaboration spaces.

Centralised active spaces were created with built rooms located around the core providing a buffer from the main circulation and workspaces. Breakout and active spaces are centralised providing an interaction point for DocuSign staff to meet and collaborate. Neighbourhoods were created, providing different zones and facilities so they are spread across a floorplate, giving project teams ownership over them. These zones provide talent with an environment to focus on their projects and bring together experts with varied backgrounds to immediately respond to client’s requests with an integrated multidisciplinary approach.

Open ceilings, polished concrete floors and warm timber express the space’s raw architecture. Elegant accents of color complement the primarily black-and-white scheme, with bold numerals accenting the walls. Sophisticated, calming and collaborative environments are created using a neutral fabric palette, metal mesh screens, partially exposed services and feature lighting to define areas. This new home for Docusign exudes adaptability, innovation and connectivity—fitting for an energetic and expanding tech company in a rapidly changing industry.

This project was completed by our Dublin team #TEAMmac and was awarded New Office Build of the Year at The Fit Out Awards 2020.

About the whole project team:

What a dream team! Assembling the right team early with some of the best players in Dublin resulted in an amazing space! The project was completed within budget and on time. We were under pressure to occupy before the Christmas holiday.  We knew this was going to be challenging, but all rose to the occasion to deliver flawlessly. Our partners Lafferty, HJL, mac-group, AXIS Engineering, Sonics, Build Cost and others worked harmoniously together to deliver.  No detail was overlooked. There were some challenges, what project does not have those?  It was the way this team resolved things efficiently and collectively that made for a great partnership that ensured success. I can honestly say that for me personally, this was my most favourite project in my 25+ year career in corporate real estate. You know it is a special project when at the end, everyone walks away fully satisfied and proud. Our Dublin DocuSign team loves all the special spaces, especially those along the window line!

Great job all and looking forward to the next one!

About #TEAMmac specifically:

mac was highly recommended. Their bid was competitive and they put together the best schedule/programme to meet our needs. We were sceptical they wouldn’t be able to hit our timeline and they not only met our timeline but exceeded it, delivering the space about a week earlier than planned. The mac team was professional, approached issues directly with suggested resolutions, they created a team like atmosphere with all parties to ensure success and they delivered on what they said they would.

– Carrie Cary – Real Estate Director DocuSign

mac worked seamlessly with the team at HJL to overcome any challenges as they came up. As a result, there were no challenges that were ongoing or that caused any issues. Our expectations were definitely exceeded.  It was a pleasure to work with mac on this project as the team were organised, communicative and proactive in solving problems. We found it easy to get in touch with the team and they were quick to respond to any queries we had, and meetings were regularly scheduled to ensure transparency across all disciplines and subcontractors.

DocuSign are extremely happy with their new space and have given only positive feedback so far.

We would have no hesitation in recommending mac to others. We had a great experience working with this team and would recommend them for their efficiency, quick thinking, problem solving and great communication skills. They were generally very easy to work with and we hope to work with them again soon.

– Crina Toderic – Senior Interior Designer HJL
