mac-group have commenced works on a new build residential scheme based in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for Northwood Developments. The Pressworks, will comprise of a mixture of 48 one and two bedroomed apartments over three and four storeys.
mac-group will part demolish the existing building and retain and convert the heritage buildings. New residential buildings will be constructed using lightweight steel gauged frame for the entire new construction with metal deck and concrete floors.
External façade features include red brickwork to match existing, a mix of zinc and timber cladding with express metal balconies to the courtyard elevation and dark grey aluminium frame crittall styled windows will be installed to the new sections and the existing timber windows will be replaced like for like. mac-group will also be upgrading and installing a new substation.
A historic press, which was used as part of the original manufacturing facility, will be retained and displayed as a feature in the internal courtyards with new landscaped courtyards and cycle storage.
