mac-group completed works on a new build residential scheme based in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for Northwood Developments. The Pressworks, comprises of a mixture of 48 one and two bedroomed apartments over three and four storeys.
mac-group part demolished the existing building and retained and converted the heritage buildings. New residential buildings were constructed using lightweight steel gauged frame for the entire new construction with metal deck and concrete floors.
External façade features include red brickwork to match pre-existing, a mix of zinc and timber cladding with express metal balconies to the courtyard elevation and dark grey aluminium frame crittall styled windows were installed to the new sections and the existing timber windows were replaced like for like. mac-group also upgraded and installed a new substation.
A historic press, which was used as part of the original manufacturing facility, was retained and displayed as a feature in the internal courtyards with new landscaped courtyards and cycle storage.
