The MAC Group was commissioned to design an exhibition on the history of Sampdoria in Genoa's Ducal Palace as part of the celebrations of the club's sixtieth anniversary (1946-2006).
The exhibition Semper Uniti in Gloria aimed - as the club's President Riccardo Garrone put it - "to offer this great club's fans a journey rich in passion and memory that strengthens their enduring bond with Sampdoria. Celebrating this anniversary is an honor I would like to share with everyone who has had the privilege of steering this glorious club, as I have."
The opening of the exhibition was attended by all the club's top management, local bodies and stars past and present with a place in Sampdoria's ranks.
The MAC Group took care of the entire set (design consulting, sound, video, lighting, structural work and tailoring), creating a striking exhibition area between the atmospheric colonnades of the Sala del Munizioniere hall in the Ducal Palace, a lasting symbol of the wealth and power of the Republic of Genoa.
The concept involved bringing the club's sixty years of passion to life through the trophies, cups, written and printed accounts and documents which mark the history of its blue-ringed champions. Upon entering, visitors found themselves facing a column that had been created in the centre of the hall to match the existing ones around it in every respect, symbolizing the club's philosophy and history. Its purpose was to tell the story of the foundation and rise of Sampdoria through the fantastic world of football, always aiming high and innovating while remaining true to its roots and the ethics of the true sporting spirit. The back of the hall featured a recreation of the club crest in the style of the pop artist Andy Warhol, bringing its colors vividly to life.
