Client: U.C.Sampdoria
Location: L. Ferraris Stadium - Genoa
Type of project: Large Enterteinment Events - Sets and Shows
Having decided to celebrate the selection of its 2006-2007 team upon the occasion of a friendly match between Sampdoria and Penarol, U.C. Sampdoria S.p.A. commissioned the MAC Group to design, plan and organize the set for the event at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa.
The evening, compered by the actor and television personality Corrado Tedeschi, was attended by a public of 20,000 and included a presentation of the entire Sampdoria team, which was competing in the 2006-2007 TIM Seria A championship and UEFA Cup. The presentation also included the club's technical staff and management team. A selection of music that was mixed live accompanied every stage of the presentation.
The consultancy and sound, video and lighting solutions for the project were particularly challenging since the grass pitch surface had been newly re-laid. The layout and positioning of the equipment consequently had to be carefully thought out to avoid damaging the pristine new surface, and it was decided to install the sound system on special raised platforms facing the public. The MAC Group's specialist personnel were thus able to overcome the various problems posed by each stage of the event, combining technical expertise with creative ingenuity.
Four confetti cannons were set up around the edge of the pitch and in the towers at the edge of the south tier, filling the air with the team colors when the team did their lap of honor. The presentation was enhanced by the use of the stadium's LED walls, which the MAC Group used to show footage the club had provided.
The MAC Group also provided consultancy for the lighting and music during the evening and took care of the audio post-production work for the official CD of the event, deploying the expertise of its specialist Show Division staff.
