Client: Genoa Cricket and Football Club
Location: Luigi Ferraris Stadium - Genoa
Type of project: Large Entertainment Events - Sets and Shows - Production
GENOA CFC commissioned the MAC Group to design, plan and manage an evening at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, celebrating the team's promotion to Serie A. The project included designing and building the set, as well as providing the sound and video equipment required.
A special challenge of this project for the MAC Group was the very tight timescale required - just two days to design and put on the event, following hot on the heels of Genoa's promotion to Serie A.
The evening was compered by the sports journalist Pinuccio Brenzini with the help of television personality Luca Bizzarri, and attended by around 20,000 fans in the stadium. Genoa CFC's players and representatives of the club's technical staff and management were presented one by one, each taking their place on a special platform set up on the pitch.
The MAC Group assembled a team of many companies that it coordinated to create a uniquely spectacular and enthralling event in record time. The public were surprised by an astonishing giant "A" around thirty metres high on the pitch, its transparent structure created using 40 backlit Plexiglas platforms. Complementing it were two American-style giant projection screens, each 4x3 metres large, forming a powerfully communicative and evocative panorama.
The MAC Group also coordinated a cast of diverse artists who went out into the stadium, accompanying and surprising the public in their celebrations throughout the evening. Completing the entertainment, the MAC Group organised DJs and a troupe of 15 professional flag throwers who put on an astonishing choreographed show that combined style, technique and acrobatic feats which amazed the crowd. Bringing the evening to a close, the public and team were saluted by an "explosion" of paper, streamers and confetti in the red white and blue team colours.
