uniques: 2012 dates revealed at an exclusive meeting in Verona

A new engagement brought important collectors and businessmen together under the aegis of uniques special ones^® for an exclusive dinner in Verona in the spectacular setting of the 16^th century Palazzo Giusti. Sandro Binelli, president of MAC Group, welcomed important captains of industry united by a passion for collecting automobiles, watches, works of art, and even musical instruments. Also attending the uniques special ones^® engagement were several members of the uniques club, an exclusive group open only to participants in The Unique Cars International Concours. The meeting, which incidentally was included in the FuoriSalone events of Luxury & Yachts 2011, offered the perfect opportunity for revealing the dates of the next staging of uniques, on the programme from 28^th to 30^th September 2012 in Florence. Several innovations were also presented: after the success of the Zagato area last year, the 2012 staging of the event (simultaneously a Concours, exhibition, and PR opportunity) will feature two themed areas dedicated to Bertone and Touring Superleggera, two of the great coachbuilders that wrote the history of the automobile. Bertone, established in 1912, is one of the oldest, most prestigious 'Made in Italy' brands in the automobile industry, having accompanied the industry's technological and stylistic evolution through its first century of life. Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera boasts over 80 years of history and tradition: the first custom-build cars made by Touring, an Alfa Romeo and an Isotta Fraschini, were in fact built in 1928, and throughout the years, the name Touring has always been synonymous with elegance, quality, and technical innovation. Lastly, Binelli launched the uniques International register project, that is, the creation of a register that exclusively catalogues unique cars, certifying their worth and exceptionality on an international level. The admission criteria are the same as those for the uniques Concours, and a jury of experts will make the selections; all cars that have participated in uniques special ones^® will be entered into the register automatically. Initially, the uniques International register will be aimed at cars alone, later opening up to other collector items, from watches to yachts.
