The Mille Miglia on show in Shanghai

23/06/2010

The second Mille Miglia Roadshow, which took place in Shanghai, China, for the presentation of the international event, was a great success. The race, organised by the Temporary Business Association to which the licence to use the Mille Miglia brand has been granted and of which the MAC Group is the group head-mandatee, was introduced to the public of EXPO of Shanghai on 22 June: over 50 journalists were accredited, together with the representatives of the Italian and Chinese institutions and leaders of the top international business community, demonstrating a great enthusiasm for the race that represents Italian excellence. "The Mille Miglia", explained Paolo Binelli, managing director of the MAC Group and vice-president of the organising committee, "which took place from 1927 to 1957, wrote epic pages in the history of world motor racing, of the sport and the trends of the period: its commemoration perfectly respects this tradition, but with the ability to innovate and renew. The 2010 event, for example, introduced with great success the Ferrari Tribute to the Mille Miglia, a regularity race for 130 vintage and modern Ferraris, which preceded the gems of the Red Arrow. With a route which is as faithful as possible to the original race, the Mille Miglia also offers to all its participants, national and foreign, the chance to discover the beauty hidden away in the Italian territory, the small villages and those fascinating and distinctive panoramas of our country". Beniamino Quintieri, General Commissioner of the Government for the Universal Exposition at Shanghai 2010, then declared, "I am here representing the Italian government to present, at the side of the organisation, this splendid historic patrimony of our country. The Mille Miglia is an important brand for the promotion of the Italian spirit outside our country. We had to be at EXPO, where symbols of Italy and its history are on display".
