Since this morning, thousands of Alfisti have been gathering in the areas of the Fiera Milano Rho to take part in the activities devoted to 100 years of Alfa Romeo: the celebration event, organised by the MAC Group in collaboration with the Italian Alfa Romeo Registry, is bringing together over 3,000 enthusiasts to drive in a procession from the exposition zone to the front of Milan's Castello Sforzesco and the area around Parco Sempione. Tomorrow, there will be an attempt to achieve a Guinness record with the symbolic embrace of the city by the cars on the Milan ring road, which will be filmed from a helicopter in an effort to have the event enter the Guinness Book of Records. "The procession, which began in the early afternoon, will culminate with the presentation of the 100 most significant models to the public and the Alfisti", explained Sandro Binelli, president of the MAC Group, "and celebrated TV journalist of the Nuvolari Channel, Mauro Coppini will commentate on the cars".
The Alfisti departed Milan in staggered sequence after having enthusiastically taken part in the handing over ceremony of the artistic sculpture inspired by the Alfa Romeo 1900 Disco Volante by Agostino Bonalumi, realised by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo and donated for the occasion by the IARR. The work will be permanently hosted at the South Gate of the Milan's Fiera Milano Rho. "Alfa Romeo", said the president of Fiera Milano, Michele Perini, "is the industrial history of Milan and the demonstration to the world of Italian excellence in creativity and technology. The Fiera Milano has been the stage for our industry and products made in Italy for 90 years. It seemed to us completely natural to not only participate actively in the Alfa Romeo centenary, but also to propose the Fiera as the home for a monument destined to remain in time".
