Deciding to create an ecologically sustainable event means planning its organization and communications on three different levels:
- Adopting responsible behavior, which is to say reducing the environmental impact of the event to a minimum regarding
- materials logistics (use of recyclable/recycled materials, optimizing transport routes and volumes, using attentive suppliers who limit harmful emissions and local procurement, etc.)
- transport of people (e.g.: car pooling to reduce car journeys)
- communications (use of recycled paper or other means of communication that do not require printing)
- use of "zero food miles" products for catering
- reduced electricity consumption
- Adopting Impatto Zero®. The Impatto Zero guidelines specify a scientific method for calculating carbon emissions which are then converted into the amount of new forest that needs to be planted to offset them, using specified ratios.
- Raising awareness through the event. Communicating responsible practices with respect to consumption, recycling, transport and so on as part of the communications for the event becomes an important channel in its own right for raising awareness, informing, involving and motivating those taking part in the event with regard to respect for the environment.
Each individual action should be specified, tailored to and proposed to the client to suit the type of event in question. In addition to designing, planning and implementing these actions, the MAC Group also develops a related communications campaign to immediately secure greater attention and link the brand promoted with the sustainability choices made.
